Primary School Sampler Module
5th and 6th Class has the opportunity to partake in the Primary School Sampler Module (DES initiative) during the months of February and March. For an hour each week, over a period of 6 weeks, the pupils learned French with Mrs. Dawn Hackett. They learned how to say the following in French - greetings, food, days of the week, months, counting etc. This was an extremely worthwhile initiative and it was lovely to see the pupils foster a love for another language, particularly as it will prepare them for secondary school.

Raising the School Flag and the Active Flag
Friday November 5th 2021 was a very proud day for everyone in Granagh N.S. as we celebrated the raising of our School Flag and our First Active Flag.
Thanks to the fundraising efforts of the Parent’s Association, through the Fantasy Rugby, we now have a school sign and a school flag with our own school crest. The idea for the design of the school crest came from the designs submitted by the pupils. Each pupil was asked to submit their design of a crest to represent the school, and every pupil drew at least one of the symbols represented in the final crest.
The symbols are:
The Active School Flag (ASF) is an initiative of the Department of Education & Skills to get schools more active, more often, and here at Granagh N.S. we have achieved this. Ms. Lynch co-ordinated the initiative and organised all of the events to encourage the pupils to be more active. The Flag was awarded after lots of hard work and dedication by all our pupils, all our staff, our parents and our Board of Management to achieve a more physically active and physically educated school.
Please check the Active School section of our school website for more information. Being Active is so important for our overall well-being and we hope to continue with the Active School initiatives.
