The Primary Curriculum is designed to meet the learning needs of each child in the school, to prepare them to avail of further education and to lead fulfilled lives as adults. In accordance with the curriculum for primary schools, Granagh NS provides a broad general education, combined with a wide range of experiences. The curriculum is laid out in curriculum areas, some of which are further sub-divided into subjects. These are Language (Gaeilge and English); Mathematics; Social, Environmental and Scientific Education (History, Geography and Science); Arts Education (Visual Arts, Music and Drama); Physical Education; Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE).
- Religious Education: Religious Education is a core subject and the syllabus for the Catholic Church is followed, using the Grow in Love series.
- An Ghaeilge: Cumarsáid agus usáid na teanga mar theanga bheo an dá ghné is suntasaí den churaclam Gaeilge. Communication and use of Gaeilge as a living language underpin the curriculum in Gaeilge.
- English: The English curriculum is structured to offer children a total language experience in which oral language, reading and writing are fully integrated.
- Mathematics: The five strands in the mathematics curriculum are: number, algebra, shape and space, measures and data.
- Science: The four strands of the curriculum are: living things, energy and forces, materials and environmental awareness.
- History: Emphasis on local history and a focus on the skills of the historian.
- Geography: The three strands are: human environments, natural environments and environmental awareness and care.
- Music: The three strands are: listening/responding, performing and composing.
- Visual Arts: The six strands are: drawing, paint, print, clay, construction, fabric and fibre.

- Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE). Children learn through experiencing a positive school climate and atmosphere, and by exploring aspects of the curriculum through relevant subject areas. It includes RSE (Relationships and Sexuality Education), Stay Safe, Walk Tall (Substance Abuse Prevention Programme), Health Education, and Safety Education (Road, Water, Farm, Bus, Electrical). The RSE Talk for the 5th/6th classes takes place every two years within the school and a HSE nurse is invited to the school to give these talks.
